Walleye Bonanza
The first Saturday in August our organization holds its annual Amateur Walleye Bonanza. This year's tournament will be held on Saturday, August 6th.
The location is at Eagle's Bay Marina 1893 Sagatoo Rd. Standish, MI.

1st Prize (5 Fish Stringer) = $1000 (based on 50 boats entered)
Tournament Rules 2011
1. Contest will be held Saturday August 6th, 2011. If canceled, will be held Sunday August 7th. Time out 6:30 a.m., time in 2:30 p.m. Must be at check-out before 2:30p.m. No exceptions. Check-in at Eagle Bay Marina. Limit enough time to be in.
2. Entry fee -$20.00 per person. Over age of 16 on the boat, maximum 3 lines per person. Minimum $40.00 per boat.
3. All entrants must have their boat, cooler, and live wells checked at the official check point, Eagle Bay Marina by 6:30 a.m. or prior to entering the tournament. Official launching will take place at Eagle Bay Marina only.
4. Entrants must hold a valid Michigan fishing license or be exempt (under 17 years) from holding a license and abide by the rules creel limits set forth by the Department of Natural Resources.
5. An amateur shall be defined as not having fished in more than one (1) professional walleye tournament in the prior and/or current calendar year. Not more than one MWT,PWT,FLW, or any other series of tournaments.
6. Entrants will be subject to disqualification should it be determined that the presented fish were not caught during the contest or if fish are transferred from one boat to another. Decision of the contest committee is final.
7. By holding an entry ticket to this contest, the entrant acknowledges receipt of a copy of the rules and regulations, and agrees to abide by all the stated and implied conditions.
8. Walleye is the only fish that will be allowed to receive points at weigh– in, no other species will be eligible. All fish entered must be caught by hook and line the day of the contest within the designed fishing area.
9. This is a Local Saginaw Bay Tournament. Boundary for fishing is inner Bay (Point Lookout —Sand Point)
10. Fishing competition is completed at the designated time that day , or when a boat comes ashore: whichever comes first.
11. Boats used by entrants must meet all Federal and State boat safety requirements, and be able to carry the specified amount of people and gear.
12. All boats must display regulation pennants at all times.
13. Protests may be filed after 2:30p.m. weigh- in with the contest committee. A $100.00 protest fee will be charged for any protests filed. If the protest is up-held the $100.00 will be refunded.
14. Each entrant agrees to hold any of the contest sponsors harmless from any liability of any nature and kind, for injuries and/or disagreements suffered by the entrant before, during, and after the contest.
15. All fish must be taken to Eagle Bay Marina for official weigh-in.
16. FOR YOUR SAFETY: Even if you have no fish to weigh-in, please check in at the weigh-in area so we know all entrants have returned to shore.
17. By signing the entry form, the Entrant absolves the Sterling Sportsmen's Association and all connecting sponsors from any liabilities due to injuries to themselves or others during the tournament. Tournament officials reserve the right to refuse entry to any individuals.
18. Mariner suggests, no alcohol in boat. No alcohol to fish persons until after weigh-in. No alcohol or open containers on stage or in photos. All state boating laws are in effect during this tournament. There will be a boat launch fee at Eagle Bay Marina.
19. Categories consist of: 1. Most pounds for (5) fish (Total weight) Tie breaker: largest fish on stringer. 20. The first place winner from the previous year may have an observer riding (but not fishing nor counting as a fisherman) in their boat. The Sterling Sportsmen’s Association reserves the right to place observers in any boat any time for any reason.
21. "Larger boats" can be checked in at the channel tower from 6:00 to 6:30 a.m. Large boats can have fish transferred from channel.
